I often have a spirited discussion with my good friend, Nancy Matz. She’s a psychic medium. The real kind. Born with the gift and very accurate. Don’t ask her if you don’t want to know. She’s that good.

We’ve known each other and worked together on special interests of spirit attachment for 20 + years. It’s the kind of friendship where you grab a cup of hot coffee and get ready for a steaming conversation that stirs the soul. While we tend to agree on most things, we differ on the concept of free will versus destiny.

I’ve given this a lot of thought. How much of our life is pre-ordained and how much is free will? We have these conversations that go down a long rabbit hole exploring just how much control we have over what happens to us.

Here’s a classic conversation. Someone calls and they want Nancy to do a psychic reading on their love relationship. Based on that reading, they take certain actions, which result in a different outcome than what she saw in her reading.

Did Nancy get it wrong?

I say, no. They changed their destiny based on free will.  Based on what she told them, they made different choices that created different outcomes. Was it in their lifepath blueprint to meet this guy, date him and find out he was yet another loser?

Another example: Many psychic readers predicted Hillary Clinton would win the 2016 Presidential election. Oops. The polls closed and Trump was announced President of the United States.

Were the psychics wrong? No. Hillary Clinton did win the popular vote. Maybe that was the energy the psychics picked up on. (I believe we will find out within the next few years that certain people exercised their free will to rig the voting and the election, creating a different outcome. )

Does this mean Trump was never destined to be President of the United States? No. It does not. But that is a fascinating post for a different day.

Doing past life regression work and going into the interlife space where I guide the client to talk with their higher self, I’ve learned that quite a bit of planning goes on between lives. We spend a great deal of effort developing our lifepath blueprint. This blueprint defines certain people we will meet, and specific circumstances that will unfold, all orchestrated for our learning and development.

The degree to which specific circumstances will unfold, or how long we will encounter certain individuals in our lives is up to us. I once heard Sylvia Brown, as a guest on the Montel Williams show, explain that perhaps you are destined to experience a car accident. A car accident will happen, but the degree to which you experience it is determined by the energetic pattern you are carrying at the time. She went on to explain depending upon the predominant energetic pattern you run, you could attract a T-Bone and be severely injured, or just have a minor fender bender.

Your lifepath blueprint lays out the major things you agree to do and experience during this incarnation. Free will is a law of the Universe, but it doesn’t erase the blueprint we made before we came into this life. There are other laws that intersect with the Law of Free Will. This includes the Law of Attraction.

Maybe in your pre-birth planning, the car accident was meant to teach you the lesson of compassion. But prior to the accident, you had many other opportunities to learn compassion and at the time of the accident, compassion energy was so strong in your aura that it actually helped to up your vibration to the point that the fender bender was all that was needed to remind you of your learnings in compassion.

Your words, thoughts, actions, and feelings everything you think, say, or do, carries with it the energy that created it and influences the matter around it. This energy draws people to you and impacts your ability to create your reality and whether you are able to use the Law of Free Will with fluidity, or it will take some time to create what you desire.

Back to the rabbit hole because we’ve only tunneled a little ways down… If I ask Nancy about a specific event I believe will unfold in the future, and she tells me what she sees on that trajectory, and I then change my mind and decide to go a different direction, was that my free will, or was that a result of my lifepath blueprint that noted I would toy with an idea, seek counsel on it and then decide against taking action that would result in a different outcome.

Any crystal ball can turn very foggy.
